Apple is planning a new 15-inch MacBook model that could launch around Q2 2023 or later, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said today.

In a tweet, Kuo said the notebook may be available with both M2 and M2 Pro chip options. Kuo previously claimed that the new 15-inch model may not be branded as the MacBook Air, but he didn’t provide further details on possible naming conventions.

For the new 15-inch MacBook, configurations with the M2 chip would come bundled with Apple’s new dual-port 35W power adapter, while configurations with the M2 Pro chip would come with a more powerful 67W adapter, Kuo said. These power adapters are already options for the new M2-powered MacBook Air that launches next month.

Kuo also said he hasn’t heard anything about plans for the previously notorious 12-inch MacBook. Last week, BloombergMark Gurman reported that Apple is considering launching a new 12-inch notebook in late 2023 or early 2024. Gurman said it was unclear whether the notebook would be a low-end MacBook or a more expensive MacBook Pro.

In recent weeks, rumors have surfaced about several new MacBook and iPad sizes slated for 2023 and beyond. For example, Gurman recently reported that Apple was working on a new 15-inch MacBook Air, which could be the machine Kuo is referring to. As the devices get closer to launch, details should become clearer.
